According to The Herald, Rangers winger Jake Hastie is now wanted by Hearts as Robbie Neilson plots a raid on the Gers.

It’s claimed that Motherwell have communicated their interest in re-signing Hastie, just a year since losing him to Rangers at the end of his Fir Park contract.

However, new Hearts boss Neilson is keen too. He just managed to bring Craig Gordon back to Tynecastle, and is now looking to add Hastie to improve going forward.

Neilson started his career at Rangers, and may hope to see his former club do him a favourite with a deal for Hastie.

Hastie, 21, starred for Motherwell last season. In 12 Scottish Premiership appearances, the winger racked up six goals and one assist.

Rangers pounced, signing him at the end of his Motherwell deal. However, Steven Gerrard quickly decided that he wasn’t ready, sending him on loan to Rotherham United.

Hastie showed promise there and returned to Rangers in January, but didn’t play a single game before the season was cut short.

Gerrard seemingly hasn’t changed his mind, with Rangers prepared to let Hastie go again – and despite being relegated, Hearts are making their move.
