ACF Fiorentina are set to sign Hellas Verona midfielder Antonin Barak amid interest from Newcastle United and West Ham, with Tottenham manager Antonio Conte also keen on the Czech Republic international.
According to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the Tuscan side are set to announce the signing of the 27-year-old in the next 24 hours, with Fiorentina winning the race for Barak and beating some strong competition for the Serie A star, mainly from the Premier League.
Reports this summer have indicated that both Newcastle and West Ham were keen on signing Baraka, with Tottenham also in the race for the Czech midfielder, with Conte a big fan of the Verona star, yet despite all this interest, it is Fiorentina who have secured the maestro’s signature.
Valued at £25m, Barak was one of Verona’s best players last season as the former Udinese midfielder bagged 11 goals and four assists for the Serie A outlet, and with Fiorentina in the market for a midfielder following the departure of Lucas Torreira, La Viola now look set to land the Premier League target this week.
Indeed, Barak head into this summer as one of Serie A’s most intriguing products, with the goalscoring midfielder offering something very few players can offer and many clubs desire, and for Fiorentina, the Tuscany-based side winning the race for the Czech international is quite the signing.
Premier League sides could regret missing out on new Fiorentina signing Barak

Midfielders with the ability to act more as an attacker than a deeper player on the pitch are dying breed in football and one that has thrived in the Premier League no matter the season, and it is because of this that the likes of West Ham, Tottenham and West Ham could regret missing out on the signing of Barak.
After all, the 27-year-old is in the prime of his career and coming off his best season ever in Italy, and for Fiorentina, signing the midfielder is quite the coup for the Serie A side looking to make an impact in Serie A as well as Europe, with Vincenzo Italiano’s set hopeful of qualification to the UEFA Europa Conference League this month.
