Burnley are set to launch a £200,000 offer to sign Oldham Athletic talent and reported Everton target Harry Vaughan, who is enjoying a breakout season with the Latics.

According to the Sun, the Clarets are returning to Oldham with an improved offer for the Republic of Ireland youth international. Burnley had previously made a bid for Vaughan in the summer, however, this was rejected by the League Two side.

As per the report, QPR and European clubs Borussia Monchengladbach and Real Sociedad are also chasing Vaughan, who this season has made 20 appearances in all competitions for the 24th-place League Two side.

Burnley aren’t the only Premier League interested in Vaughan, though. As per the Oldham Times, Everton also have an interest in the 17-year-old attacking midfielder. However, it appears that Sean Dyche’s side are the favourites to sign the talent.

A breakout star in League Two who was lauded by former Oldham manager and Liverpool icon Harry Kewell last season, Vaughan has been impressive as one can be for a side rooted to the bottom of the EFL pyramid.

The midfielder has bagged two goals and two assists in all competitions. And with Vaughan already a regular member of Ireland’s U-18s, it’s no wonder that the likes of Burnley and Everton are eager to sign the midfielder this month.

At 17, Vaughan has already amassed a decent amount of minutes in League Two, and for Everton, losing the Irishman to Burnley could be something the Toffees live to regret in a few years.

Indeed, League Two has proven to be a great division for young players to learn the ropes of football. And for Vaughan, the attacking midfielder could develop into a starter for Burnley should he continue his progression in the lower leagues.
