According to the Daily Mail, Richard Garlick will be tasked with bringing Brighton and Hove Albion defender Ben White to Arsenal.
It’s stated that Arsenal have held exploratory talks about a deal for White, even though Brighton want a huge £50million fee.
Liverpool and Manchester United are keen too, but it’s Arsenal now launching an ambitious move.
Who is Richard Garlick?
Arsenal have brought in Garlick as their new head of football operations, and he will allegedly attempt to finalise this move.
You would think that technical director Edu would be leading this one, but it’s Garlick who will take charge of negotiations.
Edu handles initial recruitment and contact, and Garlick will then deal with the actual contract talks.
Garlick spent eight years as a Director of Football Administration at West Bromwich Albion, and then left his role as Director of Football with the Premier League in April.
Garlick was brought in to replace Huss Fahmy at Arsenal, and landing White could be a huge start for him.

Do Arsenal need Ben White?
The answer to this question likely hinges on what you think of William Saliba, who Mikel Arteta doesn’t seem to fancy.
The French defender was supposed to be Arsenal’s right-footed partner for the left-footed Gabriel Magalhaes for years to come, but that may not happen.
A big-money move for White would suggest that Saliba’s days are numbered, though White is a huge talent and could solidify that Arsenal back line for a long time.
