According to Goal, Rennes want to sign Amiens striker Serhou Guirassy as a replacement for M’Baye Niang – and Tottenham would be heavily impacted.
It’s claimed that Guirassy has already had contact with Rennes. The idea of joining them appeals to him, given that they are in the qualifying rounds of next season’s Champions League.
Rennes allegedly see Guirassy as a player who can come in and replace Niang, who is being heavily linked with a move away from Rennes.
The twist in this is how it involves Tottenham Hotspur. Last week, L’Equipe reported that Tottenham had made contact about a possible deal for Niang, but Marseille are ahead of them in the race.
Additionally though, Le10 Sport have noted that Spurs like Guirassy too. They have allegedly enquired about a deal for the striker, with Chelsea and West Ham United also keen.
That leaves Tottenham intwined in the striker situation at Rennes. They could go for Guirassy if Niang stays, or they can push for Niang whilst knowing that Guirassy is being lined up to replace him.

The worst case scenario for Spurs may well be that Niang heads to Marseille, and Rennes then go and spend the money on Guirassy.
That would leave Spurs down two targets in a key position. Guirassy would certainly be the cheaper option after suffering relegation with Amiens, but Niang has some Premier League experience – and the new developments mean Spurs may need to make a choice soon.
