Farense won’t stand in Ryan Gauld’s way if the Southampton target is offered a move to the Premier League, as reported by O Jogo.
A player famously labelled Scotland’s answer to Lionel Messi during his formative years at Dundee United has made a name for himself in his own right in Portugal.
It didn’t work out for Gauld at Sporting Lisbon but, since joining an unfancied Farense side in 2019, the diminutive playmaker has been a man reborn, scoring a career-best nine Primeira Liga goals last season.
And, following Farense’s relegation, the former Scotland U21 international is all but certain to have a new club by the time next season kicks off.
Farense have made it clear they won’t stand in Gauld’s way.
Brighton and Southampton interested in Gauld
Primeira Liga rivals Braga are looking to secure the services of the technically gifted attacking midfielder.

But with clubs in England potentially ready to pay a bigger fee, Farense are dragging their feet, delaying an agreement with Braga in the hope larger offers arrive.
O Jogo backs claims from TEAMtalk that Southampton are also in the race for a man whose quick feet, eye for goal and defence-splitting qualities could enhance a front line that often flattered to deceive last term.
Sheffield United and Brighton and Hove Albion have also been linked, with Gauld expected to be available for a bargain sum of £3.5 million.
