According to Sky Sports, West Ham United are close to agreeing to a new contract with youngster Reece Oxford.
The highly rated youngster is expected to sign a new deal this week after lengthy negotiations with the club.
He had initially rejected a deal this summer as the Hammers moved to try to secure one of their hottest talents to a new deal.
Negotiations have been on going since that point, with some reports indicating that other Premier League teams, such as Manchester United, could be set to swoop in and try to take him away from the London Stadium.
It appears that an agreement has been reached, though, and the 17-year-old is expected to sign the new deal this week according to Sky Sports.
The news will delight both West Ham fans and management alike, who would have feared losing their prized asset in future.
Oxford is well thought of at the club after becoming their youngest ever player when he started last season’s opening day win over Arsenal.
He has featured for all of England’s age groups up to under-20 and has been touted as a future star of the senior men’s team.
Having him signed to a new deal beyond 2018, when his current contract expires, will be a huge boost as the Hammers look to compete at the top of the table in future.
