According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Reece Oxford has accepted that he will have to leave West Ham after holding talks with Manuel Pellegrini about his future.

Oxford has lost his way after making a sensational start to life in the Hammers first-team. The Mirror reports that he continues to train with the academy, but is attracting attention from one of Europe’s heavyweights.

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly keen on signing the defender, and the Mirror reports that Pellegrini has recently suggested that Oxford may have to go to another club.

The Mirror adds that Oxford has subsequently met with Pellegrini for talks following his comments and has now accepted that he will need to leave the London Stadium.

It looks set to be a sad end to Oxford’s time with the Hammers. His Premier League debut as a 16-year-old hinted that the Irons had found a superstar already ready to feature fairly regularly within the first-team.

It seems to have now got to the stage where there are very few West Ham fans asking for Oxford to get a chance in the senior side, and many would probably not mind too much if he did leave the club in the near future – though there would be a huge amount of intrigue given that he could seemingly end up with Dortmund.
