Rangers are looking to recall Andy Halliday from his loan back to Ibrox.

The Daily Record have claimed that Rangers midfielder Andy Halliday’s return to Ibrox is not as simple as it seems, with red tape currently preventing a move back to Glasgow.
The 26-year-old is expected to return to the Light Blues this month following the appointment of Graeme Murty until the end of the season, as he struggles to make an impression with current loan side FK Gabala.
Halliday has managed just seven appearances for the Azerbaijani side in all competitions, playing more in the Europa League qualifiers than the club’s league matches.

With Pedro Caixinha sacked, it meant that both parties were hopeful of a swift return that would see Halliday’s season-long loan end early. However, numerous issues are apparently preventing a move with Murty desperate to take him on the winter trip to Florida.
A source told the Daily Record: “Andy is desperate to be on the plane to Florida but he will not be going anywhere until everything has been agreed. Unfortunately, there is still some paperwork which needs to be finalised and one or two issues still to be ironed out.”

The Gers are in desperate need of central midfield additions, after Murty adopted a diamond formation that has worked so well at Ibrox. Graham Dorrans and Jordan Rossiter remain sidelined, while Ryan Jack has had numerous suspensions.
Rangers resume their competitive 2017-18 action with a trip to Scottish minnow Fraserburgh in the Scottish Cup on January 21, before playing host to second-placed rivals Aberdeen three days later.
