CalcioMercato report that Real Madrid want to sign Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva in the summer. The Portuguese ace has been one of City’s best players this season, having a hand in 13 goals during 2021-22.
Silva, 27, has clocked up an enormous 235 appearances for Manchester City since joining the club for £43million (BBC) from AS Monaco in the summer of 2017. In that time, he has scored 45 goals and laid on 47 assists for City.
Largely seen as underrated, Silva already boasts 64 Portugal caps – and has a contract until the summer of 2025. Guardiola branded Silva as the “perfect player” earlier this month, as his form continues to prove crucial for City.
Despite the enormous depth at Manchester City, Silva has started every Premier League game for his side this season – apart from the opening outing, a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham, in which he was an unused substitute.
Madrid eye Silva: Manchester City star might feel the need for change
Silva has been excellent for City but this summer seems him clock up five years with the club – and likely, more than 250 games in all competitions. He has three Premier League titles, and it could add to that come May.
He might feel the need for change. This summer would be a good time to make that decision given his current age, turning 28 in August. A move to Madrid would see him go to Spain for the first time as a player.
How much would City request for Silva? The likelihood, based on his form this season, is that it would be north of £50million. City will not want to lose him but a move to Madrid is said to be a ‘dream’ for Silva, as per CM.
