Real Madrid want to sign Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United in the January transfer window, according to ESPN.

The report has claimed that Madrid wanted to sign Guimaraes from Premier League club Newcastle in the summer of 2022, and that last season’s La Liga and UEFA Champions League winners have maintained their interest in the Brazil international midfielder.

Newcastle, though, are ‘highly unlikely’ to sell the 25-year-old, who played for Brazil at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Could Real Madrid sign Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United?

In our opinion, it is very unlikely that Bruno Guimaraes will leave Newcastle United for Real Madrid in the January transfer window.

As mentioned in the report in ESPN, the Magpies are unlikely to sell one of the best and most important players in the middle of the season.

After all, Newcastle are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.

Yes, Madrid are arguably the biggest club in the world, but they have a very strong midfield already and are unlikely to invest a lot of money in that area right now.

Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni are superb midfielders.

Madrid would have to pay much more than the £33.3 million (Sky Sports) transfer fee that Newcastle had to cough up for Guimaraes in January 2022, and we do not think that they will do so right now.
