Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool both reportedly want to sign the Real Madrid midfielder.
According to a report from Spanish media outlet Marca, Real Madrid want a buy-back clause if they sell Liverpool and Tottenham linked Dani Ceballos this summer.
The 22-year-old is a transfer target for both the Reds and Spurs, according to Marca, and he will likely cost somewhere in the region of €50 million (£45 million).
Tottenham have already signed Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon, but they could still do with another central midfielder, especially if Christian Eriksen leaves this summer.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are also in the market for a cultured midfield, as they look for more creativity and guile to help supplement the likes of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.
Ceballos is a class performer, and he will undoubtedly be a superb addition for whichever club wins the race for his signature.
Whether Tottenham or Liverpool will be prepared to sign the Spaniard with a buy-back clause included in the deal, however, remains to be seen.
£45 million for Ceballos would represent decent value, but both Premier League sides would surely prefer to buy him without the prospect of losing him back to Madrid at some point in the future.
