According to Calciomercato, Real Madrid remain convinced that Sergio Reguilon will be their long-term left back.

Real sold Reguilon to Tottenham Hotspur over the summer, with the Spaniard seeking first-team opportunities following a loan spell at Sevilla.

The 22-year-old has made a strong start to life at Tottenham, and he looks like being £27.6million well spent by Jose Mourinho.

The Guardian claim that Real can buy Reguilon back for €45million (£40.5million), with Football.London suggesting that the clause will be available in 2021 and 2022.

That may leave Spurs sweating over Reguilon making a rapid return to Real, and Fabrizio Romano has told Calciomercato that Real still see Reguilon as their long-term left back.

For that reason, Real don’t want to re-sign AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez, despite a feeling that their decision to sell the Frenchman was a ‘disaster’.

Spurs fans would be forgiven for having alarm bells ringing in their heads, as Real may well pull the trigger and take Reguilon back to Spain as early as next summer.

Real do also have Marcelo and Ferland Mendy though, so Spurs will be hoping that they thrive this season and leave Real to ignore signing a new left back in the near future.
