According to a report from Sport, Real Madrid are prepared to sell Gareth Bale for a bargain price this summer.

The Welshman was expected by many to be the next big thing in world football when he made his record move from Tottenham to the Spanish capital back in 2013.

Bale’s Real Madrid career, on paper, has been a hugely successful one. The former Spurs star has won four Champions League titles, two La Liga crowns and a whole bunch of other trophies.

However, he has been out of favour under Zinedine Zidane for a while now and Real Madrid are keen to get rid of him. Bale would be an incredible signing for multiple clubs in the world but his huge wages are proving to be a stumbling block for the Spanish champions in their attempts to move him on.

Real Madrid are now prepared to go above and beyond to let him leave this summer. The recently crowned La Liga champions are willing to sell him for just £15.3 million, which is really affordable to most big clubs.

Sport claimed as recently as in April that Tottenham Hotspur would be interested in bringing their former hero back to the club this summer.

That really would be a fairy tale for Bale who is still loved and adored around the White side of North London. A little over £15 million, even in this difficult financial climate, shouldn’t be too much for Spurs, especially for a player of Bale’s quality.

However, the Welshman’s exorbitant wages will make it almost impossible for Jose Mourinho’s side to seal a deal for him. Bale will have to take a pay cut or Real Madrid would have to offer to pay a part of his salary for a deal to go through – the latter could well be possible.

Real Madrid clearly are desperate to get rid of him. If Daniel Levy can use his expert negotiation skills to convince Real Madrid to cover a part of Bale’s wages, Spurs could potentially pull off the transfer of the summer in the coming weeks.
