Real Madrid are to step up their attempts to sign Harry Kane in the summer, Spanish outlet Diario Gol report.

Real are reportedly ready to offer Harry Kane his favoured number 10 shirt, and will ask Luka Modric to give it up.

Modric only assumed the shirt this season after James Rodriguez was loaned to Bayern Munich. Previously it was worn by Mesut Ozil.

Former Spurs star Modric is ready to consider his future at the club at the end of the season, having joined Real in 2012 from the North London club.

Real went onto raid Spurs for Wales international Gareth Bale a year later.

Kane appears in no rush to leave Tottenham, although suggested this week that the club need to start winning trophies in order to guarantee his services, The Times reported.

Kane would potentially cost Real Madrid a world record fee, but he would likely double or even treble his wages with a move to Spain.

Tottenham have extra reason to keep Kane put next season as they will be moving into their new stadium.
