The Spanish giants are currently under a transfer ban from FIFA, however they continue to line up potential targets for next summer.
Reigning European Champions Real Madrid are lining up a sensational transfer swoop for Manchester City striker Kun Aguero, despite the Spanish giants currently being under a transfer ban until 2018, as reported by The Mirror.
FIFA slapped Madrid with a transfer embargo in January, 2016 after the football governing body found the Bernabeu side guilty of breaching regulations relating to the transfer of players under 18, however Los Blancos continue to appeal the ban and retain hope that it will be overturned by the time next summer’s transfer window arrives, allowing them to bolster their star-studded squad.
The Mirror claim that one of the star names that Madrid President Florentino Perez will look to bring to the Bernabeu should the embargo be removed is prolific Man City forward Aguero, who has bagged 109 Premier League goals in 158 games for the Sky Blues since his 2011 move to the Etihad Stadium from Atletico Madrid
Despite Madrid’s fresh interest, it is understood that the Citizens have no interest in selling their talismanic striker, and the Argentinian international, who has three-and-a-half-years remaining on his current City contract, is thought to be content playing under new manager Pep Guardiola at Eastlands, with no immediate plans to push for a move elsewhere.
Aguero has been in typically devastating form for City so far during the 2016/17 campaign, netting 10 goals in 13 appearances under his new boss to fire the Sky Blues to the top of the Premier League and into prime position to advance through to the last 16 of the Champions League.
The prolific 28-year-old was controversially dropped by Guardiola for City’s visit to the Nou Camp two weeks ago, with the former Bayern Munich manager citing that the move was for purely tactical reasons, leading many to question whether Aguero would be able to adapt to the Spaniard’s intense, high-pressing game
However, Aguero has bounced back from the disappointment of being demoted to the bench in spectacular fashion, registering two expertly-taken finishes in last weekend’s 4-0 league victory at The Hawthorns, before superbly spearheading City’s attack with an unwearying performance during Tuesday night’s famous 3-1 Champions League triumph over Barcelona; a display which underlined his importance to what Guardiola is trying to achieve in the blue half of Manchester.
