According to Sport, Real Madrid want to sign Joao Cancelo from Manchester City as the Spanish giants plan to revamp their squad.

Real Madrid eye raid on Manchester City

Well, the Spanish news outlet believe Los Blancos are planning to add a superstar to their full-back department in 2023, and have set their sights on the Portugal international.

Cancelo – who Sport state has a market value of €60m (£54m) – has become an integral player under Pep Guardiola since joining from Juventus in 2019.

The £140,000-a-week man has had a huge influence on the Citizens from his left-back role, where his technical ability shines brightly.

Cancelo – who is also seen stepping into a midfield role during games – has already provided four goal involvements in ten appearances this season, after scoring three goals and registering ten assists last term.

Sport believe Guardiola has no plans to sell his No.7 anytime soon, as the Spaniard considers him a favourite.

Real Madrid want more from Manchester City

Interestingly, Cancelo isn’t the only star at the Etihad Stadium wanted by Carlo Ancelotti.

Sport add that Real Madrid are hoping to sign Erling Haaland in 2024 when his release clause becomes active, with a deal worth €180m (£161m) being discussed by the Spanish giants.

The Norway international has enjoyed a remarkable start to life in England, scoring 14 goals in his first ten appearances since arriving from Borussia Dortmund.

Guardiola will obviously want to keep Haaland around for as long as possible if he keeps that form up, although the decision rests with the 22-year-old seeing as a release clause will soon become active.

Interestingly, Marca claim that Real Madrid actually lost out to Manchester City earlier this year when both sides tried to sign the Norwegian, as they also focused on signing Kylian Mbappe.

Keep an eye on this situation, as Real Madrid have the pull factor – and the finances – to frustrate Manchester City.
