Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are reportedly facing competition from Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid for Ivan Fresneda.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid are interested in signing Ivan Fresneda from Real Valladolid ahead of Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

The report in the Spanish news outlet has claimed that Barcelona, Juventus and AC Milan are also keen on Fresneda, described as “fantastic” and “brutal” by former Valladolid head coach Pacheta in MundoDeportivo in January 2023.

Mundo Deportivo have reported that Fresneda’s release clause is now €20 million (£17 million), and that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta likes the 18-year-old right-back.

Arsenal are already in contact in regard to signing the Spain Under-20 international, according to the report.

However, former La Liga and UEFA Champions League winners Madrid are now reportedly showing interest in the right-back and want to secure his services.

Real Madrid or Arsenal for Ivan Fresneda?

In our opinion, Ivan Fresneda would choose Real Madrid over Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

Madrid are arguably the biggest club in the world who regularly challenge for the La Liga title and the UEFA Champions League.

And Los Blancos do need a new right-back.

Dani Carvajal is not the player he once was, and manager Carlo Ancelotti needs someone who is young, dynamic and could grow into the role.

Alvaro Odriozola has not really been a success at right-back for Madrid, while Lucas Vazquez is 32 now.

Fresneda was actually on the books of Madrid from 2014 until 2018, so he could feel that he has unfinished business at the Spanish and European giants.
