According to the Daily Mail, Real Madrid now want to hire Mauricio Pochettino, who Tottenham decided to sack in 2019.

What’s the story?

Well, Tottenham clearly made a mistake at the time, and Real Madrid hiring the Argentine would rub even more salt in the wounds.

The Daily Mail believe both Real Madrid and Spurs tried to hire Pochettino in the summer of 2021, although Paris Saint-Germain refused to let him go.

It is said that Manchester United are also keen to hire the former Spurs boss, who is expected to leave PSG at the end of the season.

Real Madrid are particularly interested in the 49-year-old as he has a close relationship with Kylian Mbappe, a key target for the Spanish giants.

Real Madrid were booed by their own supporters during Saturday’s 3-0 win over Alaves, with fans frustrated by Carlo Ancelotti.

Los Blancos have caused Spurs plenty of pain in the past by taking Luka Modric and Gareth Bale away from north London.

Now, if they hire Pochettino, sign Mbappe and go on to dominate Europe once again, Tottenham fans will surely be kicking themselves that they let the South American go.

Daniel Levy had one of the most in-demand coaches across Europe right under his nose, and it still baffles us to this day that he willingly handed him his P45.

It was a major mistake, and was then followed by a series of poor appointments such as José Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo.
