Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen is again being linked away.
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is actively trying to sell playmaker Christian Eriksen ahead of his contract expiring.
Eriksen, 27, has spent more than six years with Spurs having arrived from Ajax in 2013, but his time with the club is coming towards its end.
The Dane is out of contract next summer, and having so far refused to sign a new deal with Tottenham, he currently looks set to move on as a free agent.
However, it’s now claimed in Spain that Levy has told ‘people he trusts’ to find a club for Eriksen to join in January, ensuring that Spurs get some cash for the playmaker rather than lose him for nothing.
It’s added that Real Madrid want him despite Zinedine Zidane’s reluctance, and are actually insisting on a move, believing it’s an opportunity too good to pass up.
Eriksen has racked up 50 goals and 65 assists for Tottenham in 214 Premier League games, but it’s fair to say that he has underperformed this season, and has been under-fire from Spurs fans for weeks now.
Whether his mind is elsewhere because he wants to go or it’s just a bad run of form, Eriksen isn’t in the good books with Spurs fans right now, and a move away in January may be best for all.
Levy will still want a decent price for a quality midfield player, and it’s believed that Real may actually make Spurs an offer even before the January transfer window opens in order to try and get a deal done quickly.
