One of the Premier League’s headline transfers this summer was Gareth Bale’s return to Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan.
The Welshman made his name at White Hart Lane and fans always hoped there would come a day when he would return. Jose Mourinho and Daniel Levy made that happen, and Bale has done well so far.
The Real Madrid man scored the winner in the game against Brighton recently, and he is working well to get back to full fitness. Mourinho has been very cautious with Bale, and does not want to rush him before he is completely ready.
The 31-year-old’s permanent future is still up in the air. He will have to report back to Real Madrid at the end of this season, and the Galacticos reportedly have three possible scenarios planned out for next summer.
Spanish outlet AS has claimed that Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on Bale. The Welshman’s contract at the Bernabeu does not expire until the summer of 2022. Los Blancos are currently paying half his huge salary, and they will have to fork out all of it once his loan deal ends.
Real Madrid’s first hope is for Bale to have an outstanding season. If the Welshman reaches the heights that he once hit, the Galacticos feel there will be clubs interested in signing him on a permanent deal next summer.

The second option is another loan deal with Tottenham. Real Madrid may try to convince Levy to take him back for another year, but this time, Spurs would have to cover his entire salary.
The last scenario is perhaps the most surprising one. The report claims that Real Madrid could well reintegrate him into their squad. Bale is still extremely valuable in terms of sponsorships, and that could tempt them to keep hold of him for one final year.
The first two scenarios work well for Tottenham, who would love to keep him if he delivers this season. Bale would also arguably like to stay but, sadly for Spurs, they will have to wait a while before Real Madrid make a firm decision about his future.
