Spanish website El Espanol report that Real Madrid have added Kieran Tierney to their summer shortlist. The Arsenal defender remains a key part of Mikel Arteta’s plans – but Real Madrid are keen on signing a left-back.

Tierney, 24, is now considered one of Arsenal’s best players after a tricky start to life in North London. Joining the Gunners from Celtic for a fee in the region of £25million, he suffered with injury in his first season.

But over the course of this season and last, the Scotland international has played 57 times in all competitions for the Gunners. He has had a hand in 16 goals in his 81 games since moving south – and Madrid are keen.

Indeed, his form – and his train the way you play attitude – has seen many suggest he could be a future Arsenal captain. But Madrid want a left-back and have added him to the list. Ashley Cole thinks he is a “warrior”.

Madrid eye Tierney: Losing Arsenal star would be a massive blow

But the temptation of a move to Madrid will surely prove tempting for the ex-Celtic man. Arsenal do have time on their side, with the defender boasting a contract at The Emirates until the summer of 2026.

It means the ball is in Arsenal’s court. They might have to sell a couple this summer in order to ease Financial Fairplay – having spent so much over the past few seasons. But losing Tierney would be a huge blow.

He is a future captain at Arsenal – especially with Alexandre Lacazette due to depart in the summer. It might come down to, whether Arsenal can qualify for the Champions League come the end of the campaign.
