According to Sky Germany, Schalke defender Ozan Kabak wants to stay in the Bundesliga or join a Premier League club in January.

AC Milan appear to be ruled out of the race, but there is still plenty of interest, with Manchester United registering their interest in the 20-year-old.

The report notes that speculation surrounding a move to Liverpool and a potential swap deal for Divock Origi is true, with the idea being floated by both clubs.

However, RB Leipzig are now a threat, as they have made contact with Kabak’s entourage in the hope of lining him up as a replacement for Ibrahima Konate and Dayot Upamecano.

That’s somewhat ironic; Bild reported earlier this month that Liverpool are keen on signing both Konate and Upamecano as they pursue a new defender.

That means that whilst Leipzig have found a potential replacement for one of their French stars, Liverpool want him too in what could be a tough transfer battle.

Kabak could allegedly cost up to €20million (£18million), and a January move seems likely as he looks to leave a Schalke side who are closing in on a year without a league win.

Offloading Origi to bring in a new centre back would make some sense for Liverpool, but Leipzig could yet be a threat in the pursuit of Kabak.
