According to Gianluca Di Marzio, RB Leipzig are back in for Roma striker Patrick Schick amid rumours linking him with a move to Newcastle United.

Whilst Leipzig had Schick on loan this past season, they have so far been reluctant to pay the permanent fee Roma are seeking.

Yet having lost Timo Werner to Chelsea, Leipzig may now pull off a U-turn on Schick’s situation. It’s stated that Leipzig are preparing a new offer for Schick, which would again be a loan deal.

Roma want €29million (£26million) for Schick, which Leipzig are unwilling to pay, but they are prepared to take him on loan for a year with an obligation to buy him in 2021.

His last loan move only had an option to buy, but Leipzig seemingly feel that they would rather push the payment to next summer in light of the global pandemic.

Roma are yet to respond to his new idea, but Newcastle may be a little disappointed having scouted Schick ‘extensively’ according to The Chronicle.

The Czech Republic attacker is a top target for Newcastle as they pursue a new striker. The 24-year-old hit 10 goals and three assists in 26 games for Leipzig this season, and seemingly caught Newcastle’s attention.

Yet with their takeover saga still dragging on, they may not be in a position to seal a deal for Schick any time soon – and that could give Leipzig the chance they need to bring him back.
