According to Goal, Leeds United have made their first move to sign Rennes winger Raphinha ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.
It’s claimed that the Whites have made a first bid, which sits below the €21million (£19million) Rennes paid Sporting for Raphinha in 2019.
Derby County are keen too, but they would surely be pursuing a loan move given that they’re in no position to be splashing huge money.
The wages on offer at Elland Road are thought to be a ‘notable increase’ for Raphinha, which means he is interested in making the move to West Yorkshire.
Leeds are waiting for a reply from Rennes, but Raphinha would need to obtain a work permit in order to play in the Premier League.
Raphinha, 23, hit nine goals and five assists for Rennes last season, and has already picked up two assists in five games this term.

Formerly of Sporting and Vitoria Guimaraes, Raphinha is a rapid left-footed winger with great dribbling ability, and predominantly plays in from the right flank.
It seems unlikely that Rennes would sell Raphinha for a loss, but Leeds are pushing to land a speedy winger before the deadline – and Raphinha seems to be their new top target.
