Report: Raphinha agrees to join Leeds on five-year deal, will pocket £28k per week

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Rennes ace Raphinha has agreed to join Leeds United on a five-year contract where he will pocket an initial £28,000 per week.

The Brazilian ace emerged as a late transfer window target for the Whites.

TMW said earlier on Sunday how Leeds have agreed a £15 million fee for hm.

Now, with the player expected to travel to Yorkshire for a medical, the same Italian editorial claim the player will net at least £1.45 million a year over a five-year deal.

Raphinha will become another Leeds addition from abroad following the arrivals of Rodrigo, Diego Llorente, Robin Koch and Crysencio Summerville.

The Whites have been diligent with their signings during the transfer window, adding young players with bright futures and a potentially large re-sale value.

Raphinha, 23, fits the criteria and demonstrated his ability for Rennes last season.

In 22 Ligue 1 appearances, the winger posted five goals and three assists, helping the club to a surprise third-place finish and a spot in this season’s Champions League.

Some may question why a player would leave a Champions League side for Leeds.

But Marcelo Bielsa’s side have proven they are not in the Premier League to make up the numbers, taking seven points from their opening four league games.

Under Bielsa, there is no reason why Leeds can’t challenge for a top eight position.

Raphinha will provide Leeds with more options out wide, with the former Vitoria de Guimaraes and Sporting Lisbon ace capable of playing on either flank.

With pace and trickery in abundance, he will be another exciting addition at Elland Road.
