Leicester City sanctioned the controversial decision last night to fire manager Claudio Ranieri, less than a year after he delivered the Premier League title.

Since then details have been emerging of the discontent at the club over the past few months, with Ranieri’s frustration over one transfer deal standing out.

The Telegraph report Ranieri was hugely disappointed the club did not back him in his desire to land Burnley defender Michael Keane, who the Clarets valued at £25 million.

Keane has impressed at Turf Moor this season and right now it seems fair value, but after a campaign in the Championship last season it was fair to consider the fee over priced.

Leicester’s centre-backs of Robert Huth and Wes Morgan performed miracles last season but have been unable to replicate their form.
