Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers will not pay the £1 million transfer fee for George Edmundson that Oldham Athletic want, according to The Daily Record.

It has been reported that Rangers have had a bid of £400,000 for the 21-year-old defender turned down by Oldham, and that the Gers will likely make another offer of £500,000 plus add-ons.

According to the report, Rangers director of football Mark Allen wants to see what the League Two club in England do after the defender handed in a transfer request.

The Daily Record has claimed that Edmundson is keen on a move to Rangers in the summer transfer window, with Hull City, Stoke City, Wigan Athletic and Derby County interested in him.
