Football Scotland claim that Rangers will find the wages of Belgian wonderkid Nicolas Raskin a ‘stumbling block’ amid reports the Ibrox club are one of nine teams eyeing a move to sign the midfielder in the January window.
Raskin, 21, has been ousted to Standard Liege’s reserve team of late, after discussions over a new deal had broken down. With his contract due to expire at the end of the season, Liege are desperate to cash in on their talented star.
The five-time Belgium Under-21 star has clocked up 96 games for the Belgian side at senior level. In that time, he has had a hand in 18 goals from midfield. Journalist Bob Faesen told The Herald that Raskin is a ‘pitbull’at Liege.
Voetbal Nieuws recently carried a report that stated Rangers were one of nine clubs chasing Raskin. Barcelona, Leeds, Fiorentina and Marseille are also looking at a move for talent Raskin. Now, Football Scotland offer an update.

They say that while there is interest from Rangers in a deal for Raskin, especially after the injury to Steven Davis, his wages will be a ‘stumbling block’. It will be interesting to see where Raskin goes, with a move definitely on the cards.
Rangers will find wages of Raskin a stumbling block ahead of January
Rangers desperately need numbers in the middle of the park. Ryan Jack, John Lundstram and Glen Kamara are the main players in that position – while James Sands is also an option. But the latter has hardly caught the eye at Ibrox.
With Davis out, it only increases the need to bring in a player in that area. Raskin would be a superb signing. Not least, given the amount of clubs keen. Rangers need to spend. Rangers need to bite the bullet, and splash the cash.
