The Rangers right-back was a wanted man but ultimately remained with Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox outfit.

Rangers were interested in taking Rekeem Harper on loan as part of West Bromwich Albion’s proposed purchase of James Tavernier, according to the Express and Star.
Tavernier, the Rangers right-back, was strongly linked with a move away from Ibrox in the summer transfer window, with West Brom among the clubs credited with interest.
But the Express and Star reports that a deal to take him to the Hawthorns fell through, leaving Harper, the Baggies midfielder, stayed put.
And the England Under-19 international is now in talks to extend his West Brom contract – which expires at the end of this season – according to the same publication, although a loan move could still be on the cards is he remains on the periphery of Darren Moore’s squad.

West Brom’s right-back shortage was only temporarily solved by the short-term capture of Tyrone Mears, and it is possible the Baggies could return for Tavernier – who has scored nine goals and set up 11 for Rangers this season – in January.
Rangers, meanwhile, added three new players – Scott Arfield, Ovie Ejaria and Lassana Coulibaly – in Harper’s position before the close of the summer window.

Would Harper have been a good addition for Rangers?
