Rangers are reportedly keen to bring Dominic Iorfa to Ibrox.
According to The Sun, Rangers are targeting a £500,000 deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Dominic Iorfa during the January transfer window.
Iorfa, 23, started out with hometown club Southend United before heading to Wolves at the age of 15, and he has been making his way up through the Molineux ranks since.
The right back was touted for stardom at one point, having earned 13 caps for England’s Under-21’s, but he has become completely out of favour under Nuno Espirito Santo.
Iorfa spent all of last season out on loan with Ipswich Town and hasn’t played a minute of Premier League action this term, with Wolves seemingly preparing to let him go in January.
Clubs may be keen on a bargain, given that his contract comes to an end next summer, and The Sun report that Rangers boss Steven Gerrard wants to bring Iorfa to Ibrox when the transfer window re-opens.
It’s claimed that Rangers were keen on Iorfa over the summer but signed Jon Flanagan and tied James Tavernier down to a new deal, but Gerrard is now back in the market for the 6ft 4in talent.
Iorfa clearly has untapped potential and needs a new home, with his versatility potentially appealing to Gerrard having played at right back, right wing back and centre back.
At just £500,000, Iorfa would be a bargain for Rangers and potentially leave Flanagan’s long-term future as a left back, or be considered as a fallback option if Tavernier ends up attracting major interest in January.
