Rangers are planning to sign Jakub Swierczok from Polish outfit Piast Gliwice in the summer of 2021, with Newonce Sport suggesting he could replace Alfredo Morelos at Ibrox.

Is there a more in-form team in European football right now than Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow giants?

While bitter rivals Celtic fall apart at the seams, the Gers are cruising into the Europa League knockout stages and, after a 4-0 dismantling of Ross County, moved 13 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Furthermore, with Kemar Roofe, Alfredo Morelos, Jermain Defoe and Switzerland international Cedric Itten, Gerrard boasts a strike force many managers would bite your hand off for.

But, as Newonce Sport point out, 50 per cent of the Rangers frontline are facing uncertain futures at Ibrox.

Gerrard, deep down, knows that Morelos will not be sticking around forever while Defoe, at 38, is set to swap his studs for slippers in the near future.

And the report believes that Swierczok has been identified as a potential replacement for either Morelos or Defoe, with Rangers expected to make their move at the end of the season rather than during the January window.

27-year-old Swierczok, a three-time Poland international, has scored five times in 11 games this season on loan at Piast Gliwice. He also won a trio of Bulgarian league titles during a goal-laden spell at parent club Ludogorets.

Swierczok is valued at around £450,000 and Piast Gliwice could sign him permanently before selling the striker for an immediate profit with Rangers sniffing around, according to the report.
