According to the Daily Record, Rangers are planning a deadline day push to sign Aberdeen winger Scott Wright.

The Gers have already signed Wright on a pre-contract agreement, meaning he will be heading to Ibrox on a free transfer this summer anyway.

However, Rangers want Wright right now, and have opened talks with Aberdeen to try and thrash out a last-gasp agreement for the 23-year-old.

Negotiations began on Sunday night, but Rangers seemingly have some way to go before finalising a move to sign Wright today.

Sam Cosgrove’s move to Birmingham City now means that Aberdeen are under no financial pressure to sell, so Rangers may find this a tricky deal to pull off.

Still, Wright is going to Rangers for free anyway, so Steven Gerrard and co will try to dangle a last chance of cash in front of Aberdeen.

With Jordan Jones sent to Sunderland, Rangers do have room for another winger, and Wright could be tempted by the chance to play a part in Gerrard’s push to the title.

Quick, tricky and capable of playing on either flank, Wright appears to be a fine squad addition for Rangers – and we’ll soon learn whether he will join immediately or be forced to wait until the summer.
