Rangers are pursuing the signature of Koln midfielder Salih Ozcan, according to German newspaper Kicker.
It’s claimed that Koln have been unable to strike a deal with Ozcan over a new deal; his current contract expires at the end of the month, and talks have been described as ‘difficult’ by Horst Heldt at Koln.
Rangers have allegedly been gathering information on Ozcan the player and the person, seemingly eyeing up a bargain move when his contract ends.
The report does though note that Rangers may only go for Ozcan if they lose one of their midfielders to a Premier League side, possibly Glen Kamara.
Ozcan helped Koln stay in the Bundesliga, though was an unused substitute in the 5-1 playoff win over Holstein Kiel last week.
He may not feel that the time is right to move on and seek opportunities elsewhere, which could well come at Rangers.

Ozcan, 23, was born in Koln and has come up through the ranks with his hometown club, so leaving would be emotional for him.
Ozcan is currently with the German Under-21 side, and could feature in the semi-finals of the European Championships against the Netherlands on Thursday – something for Rangers to keep tabs on.
