According to the Daily Mail, Rangers are plotting a summer move to sign Sheffield United striker Oliver McBurnie.
It’s claimed that McBurnie is expected to leave the Blades this summer following their relgation from the Premier League.
United still want around £15million for McBurnie, which would be a £5million loss on the fee they paid to sign him from Swansea City in 2019.
Rangers’ record transfer currently stands at around £12million for Tore Andre Flo back in 2000, meaning it would take a new club record to sign McBurnie.
McBurnie may have been born in Yorkshire, but he plays for Scotland and has made no secret of the fact that he is a huge Rangers fan, often taking to Twitter to praise players like Scott Arfield.
A move to Ibrox could be a dream come true for McBurnie, but that price tag seems incredibly prohibitive even with with Rangers having Champions League football.
McBurnie only managed one goal this past season and six in the 2019-20 campaign, so Rangers would have to hope to get him back to the form that saw him score 22 league goals in the 2018-19 season.

A hard-working striker and a real aerial threat, McBurnie could give something different to the Rangers attack, but is there really room for him right now?
The Gers already have Alfredo Morelos, Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten at Ibrox, whilst Fashion Sakala is arriving from Oostende on a free transfer.
Such an expensive deal for McBurnie surely only makes sense if Rangers sell Morelos for big money, and even with McBurnie loving the Gers, fans would surely rather have Morelos.
