Rangers are reportedly keen on centre back Fabio Cardoso.

According to the Daily Mail, Rangers are interested in a deal to sign Vitoria Setubal defender Fabio Cardoso – though he could cost £1.25million.
The Gers need to bring in a host of new signings this summer, as whilst they ended their season with a 2-1 win over St. Johnstone on Sunday, a third-place finish wasn’t what the club were hoping for last summer.

New manager Pedro Caixinha has now had time to assess his squad and weigh up what he wants in the transfer market this summer, with centre back a particular area of concern.
Clint Hill and Philippe Senderos are set to leave Ibrox when their contracts expire this summer, whilst Danny Wilson is injured, and Rob Kiernan looks set to be sold having failed to impress Caixinha.

That leaves youngster David Bates as the only other centre half at Caixinha’s disposal, and the Daily Mail now report that Rangers are now interested in signing Vitoria Setubal defender Fabio Cardoso.
Cardoso, 23, came up through the ranks with Benfica having joined the club in 2008, but he failed to make a first-team appearance for the club, and joined Vitoria Setubal last summer after a loan spell with Pacos de Ferreira.

Now, the former Portugal Under-20 centre back appears to have impressed compatriot Caixinha after making 27 appearances for Vitoria this season, with the Rangers boss allegedly hoping to pair him with fellow Portuguese centre back Bruno Alves.
However, it’s claimed that Cardoso could cost around £1.25million, and with question marks over Rangers’ transfer budget this summer, it’s unclear whether Caixinha will be given the money to spend on Cardoso.
