Steven Gerrard’s Rangers and Neil Lennon’s Celtic are interested in signing Vaclav Hladky in the summer transfer window, according to The Sunday Post.

It has been reported that Rangers are “likely” to make a move for goalkeeper Hladky this week.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper’s current contract with St. Mirren is set to run out, and he will be available on a free transfer.

The Sunday Post has claimed that Celtic want the Czech goalkeeper, and that a move from Rangers for him is “likely” this week.

Need for a goalkeeper

Allan McGregor is the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper at Rangers at the moment, but manager Gerrard needs to sign a back-up.

Both Wes Foderingham and Jak Alnwick have been released, as reported by The Sunday Post, meaning that there is space in the squad for another goalkeeper.

True, Robby McCrorie will be at the club next season, but he does not have the kind of experience that Hladky has.

The 29-year-old would push McGregor and could even dislodge the Scotsman from his place in the Rangers starting lineup.
