Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers reportedly want Umar Sadiq at Ibrox.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is interested in bringing Umar Sadiq from AS Roma to Ibrox in the summer transfer window, according to The Scottish Sun.

It has been reported that Sadiq is a potential loan target for Rangers, although the Ibrox club could face competition.

NAC Breda had the 21-year-old striker on loan for the second half of this past season, and the Dutch club reportedly have an option to take him for the 2017-18 campaign as well.

The Scottish Sun has also claimed that Roma paid Spezia £2 million in transfer fees in 2016 in order to to secure the services of the Nigeria Under-23 international striker.

Good signing for Rangers?

Sadiq is still developing and progressing as a striker, but there is no doubt that the Nigerian is hugely talented.

Bruno Peres (L) of AS Roma competes for the ball with Umar Sadiq of Bologna FC during the Serie A match between AS Roma and Bologna FC at Stadio Olimpico on November 6, 2016 in Rome, Italy.

The youngster scored five goals in 13 games during his loan spell at NEC, according to The Scottish Sun, and playing in front of an attack-minded Rangers midfielder is certainly going to help him find the target more often.

The 21-year-old Roma-owned striker may not be a big name, but he is talented and can score goals – and Rangers will not have to pay any transfer fee as they (reportedly) want him on loan.
