Ibrox club Rangers are looking at Derek McInnes as a potential replacement for Steven Gerrard following his move to Aston Villa, according to The Times.
What’s the story?
Rangers are on the hunt for a new manager.
Liverpool legend Gerrard has left the Gers for Aston Villa.
One of the managers Rangers are looking at is McInnes, according to The Times.
The report has claimed that the Gers wanted to appoint the Scotsman back in December 2017, but it did not happen.

Could Derek McInnes to Rangers happen now?
McInnes is without a managerial job at the moment following his departure from Aberdeen in March 2021.
The 50-year-old former Scotland international midfielder was on the books of Rangers from 1995 until 2000 as a player.

The Scotsman has also backed Rangers to beat bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title this season, as quoted in Glasgow Live in August 2021.
McInnes was hugely successful during his time at Aberdeen.
However, what goes against McInnes, in our view, is that back in December 2017, he decided to turn down Rangers and stay at Aberdeen, as exported in The Scottish Sun.
We do not think that Rangers fans will like it very much if McInnes gets the Ibrox managerial job now.
