It’s already been a very good summer for Rangers on the transfer front.
Steven Gerrard and Director of Football Ross Wilson have signed six new players this summer – not including Jermain Defoe, whose move from Bouremouth was made permanent – and it looks like the Gers are going to push Celtic close in trying to stop their Old Firm rivals’ 10-in-a-row bid.
Having said that, Rangers haven’t come anywhere near close to pipping Celtic to a Premiership title in recent years, so further reinforcements are definitely needed.
And according to a report, they’re keen on a new central midfielder.
Czech-based publication Isport have claimed that Gerrard is interested in signing Genk star Patrik Hrosovsky.
The 28-year-old only joined the Belgians last summer but wasn’t a first-team regular all throughout the entire 2019-20 campaign.
The report adds that Rangers want him on a season-long loan with an option to buy him outright next summer, though Genk want a permanent deal.
A long-term deal would set the Ibrox outfit back £3.5 million and Isport add that the light Blues won’t be paying that figure.
Hrosovsky, who won three league titles with Viktoria Plzen, has 25 caps for Slovakia.
