Glasgow Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is reportedly attracting a lot of attention ahead of the summer, and may be in line to leave Ibrox.
According to a report from French outlet Foot Mercato, Rangers are set to demand around £15.5 million for Alfredo Morelos this summer, with Marseille scouting the striker regularly in recent times and Premier League clubs also considering a move for the Gers star.
It has been a bizarre season for the Colombian. He is one goal clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership scoring charts, but he is now needing Steven Gerrard to spring a selection surprise if he hopes to start this weekend’s Old Firm clash.
He has been sent off on numerous occasions – including during the last meeting with Celtic – and Jermain Defoe has been incredibly impressive during his recent run of starts.
It could be an underwhelming end to the season for the 22-year-old therefore. And it appears that there is every chance that he may be on the way out of the club this summer.
Foot Mercato reports that the Ligue 1 side have scouted Morelos regularly, and there are top flight sides in England also monitoring his situation. The report adds that Rangers could be willing to sell for around £15.5 million.
If Morelos is able to keep his temperament under control and maintain the form that has seen him score 47 goals since moving to Ibrox, he could be worth so much more. But it is not a huge surprise that Gerrard may be willing to sell this summer.
He does not appear to be learning from his mistakes, and that eight-figure fee could give the Gers boss the resources he needs to potentially replace him and strengthen other areas of the squad at the same time.
