Glasgow Rangers had been heavily linked with a move for Motherwell striker Louis Moult, but the Ibrox side instead plan to pursue other targets beforehand.
Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has put a move for Louis Moult on the back-burner it seems
A report in the Evening Times has suggested that Rangers are now unlikely to move for Motherwell striker Louis Moult this summer with Pedro Caixinha preparing to pursue other attacking targets instead.
A recent report from The Scottish Sun suggested that the Gers were considering moving for Well’s top goalscorer after their disappointing third place finish in the Scottish Premiership, and had been told by Moult’s club what it would take to complete a deal.
Motherwell’s Louis Moult (R) scored 15 league goals again this season
According to The Scottish Sun, Well wanted £500,000 plus Michael O’Halloran on loan for a season before they sanctioned Moult’s move to Ibrox.
And it appears that the Gers may have been put off by those terms, with the Evening Times now suggesting that Caixinha now plans to pursue other forward options instead.
Rangers’ Michael O’Halloran had been linked with being involved in a potential deal for Moult
Given Moult’s record in the top flight since he arrived at Fir Park, it is perhaps a surprise that the Portuguese is not keen on targeting the 25-year-old.
Moult has scored 15 league goals in each of the last two seasons, while Rangers’ top goalscorer in the league barely made it into double figures.
And Light Blues supporters will be hoping that, if Caixinha has abandoned the Moult pursuit for now, he has some targets in mind who he feels could do even better at Rangers than Moult may have done.
