Rangers reportedly aren’t looking to lure Oliver McBurnie to Ibrox.
According to the Daily Mail, Rangers are unlikely to pursue a deal for Swansea City striker Oliver McBurnie despite the youngster’s desire to play for his boyhood club.
The Gers are already busy in the transfer market attempting to line up deals for the summer transfer window, with Burnley midfielder Scott Arfield poised to sign a pre-contract agreement with the club.
Director of football Mark Allen is getting work started early, and with Hull City goalkeeper Allan McGregor set to re-join the club, Rangers could have two new arrivals lined up by the end of the week.
However, one player who seemingly won’t be heading to Ibrox is striker Oliver McBurnie, with the Daily Mail claiming that Rangers won’t be pursuing a deal for the Swansea City talent.
McBurnie, 21, recently told The Scottish Sun that he grew up supporting Rangers, and hopes to fulfil a dream of playing for the club one day, leaving fans desperate to see him join.
The former Bradford City talent has starred on loan at Barnsley in 2018, scoring eight goals in 15 games for the Tykes – but Rangers seemingly aren’t preparing to lure him to Ibrox this summer.
Rangers do have Alfredo Morelos and could pursue a deal for loanee Jason Cummings, but adding McBurnie would have given them another goal threat – and that could leave the striker heading towards Leeds.
The report notes that Leeds are attempting to offer hometown striker McBurnie a move to reunite with manager Paul Heckingbottom this summer, with seemingly no opposition from Rangers.
