Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers have reportedly turned down West Bromwich Albion’s bid for Gers defender James Tavernier.
Rangers defender James Tavernier
West Brom reportedly made an offer to sign Tavernier on loan from Rangers on transfer deadline day with a view to making the move permanent in January for £2.5 million.
Steven Gerrard’s Rangers reportedly promptly rejected the bid from West Brom, who are playing in the Championship this season after getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.
Good decision
Tavernier is one of the best right-backs in the Scottish Premiership and is a key figure in the current Rangers team.
The former Newcastle United defender has been playing well for Rangers under manager Gerrard so far this season.

With the Gers challenging Old Firm rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premiership and having also progressed to the group stage of the Europa League, it would not have much sense for the Glasgow giants to sell the former Wigan Athletic right-back.
