Glasgow Rangers are planning to send scouts to watch one of the Ibrox side’s young targets this weekend.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Rangers are planning to send scouts to watch Walsall’s next game to have a further look at Tyler Roberts, but Marseille are also plotting to scout the youngster.

Roberts appears to be one of the most highly sought-after teenagers in England right now, with the West Brom starlet out of contract at the end of the season and available for a compensation amount of £300,000, according to the Mail.

The Sun reported at the weekend that the Gers were closing in on a deal to bring the forward to Ibrox when his contract expires at the end of the season, and it appears that the Light Blues have definitely decided to step up their interest.

The Mail reports that the Scottish Premiership side are planning to have scouts in attendance for the Saddlers’ League One clash away at Charlton Athletic this weekend, but Marseille will also have representatives at the game.

If Rangers do indeed manage to win the race for Roberts and that is confirmed during this window, it would arguably be another example of how it is shaping up to be an incredibly impressive window for the Gers.

They already have three signings through the door at Ibrox – with Sean Goss, Jamie Murphy and Jason Cummings all arriving on loan for the rest of the season – and adding Roberts, who has scored five times in the third tier this term, for the summer will also have to go down as an inspired piece of business – if they manage to win the race.
