Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are set to extend Josh McPake’s contract, according to a report.
According to The Glasgow Evening Times, Rangers gem Josh McPake is set to put pen to paper on a new three-year contract, amid speculation about a move away from Ibrox.
The 17-year-old is hot property and has already rejected a contract offer by the Gers, back in March.
As a result, Liverpool and Roma have been sniffing around the teenage winger, who scored a hat-trick for Rangers’ youth side in a 4-2 win over Celtic in a Glasgow Cup clash at Auchenhowie earlier this year.
But The Glasgow Evening Times has revealed that McPake has verbally agreed a new contract and will officially sign until 2022 when Steven Gerrard’s side return from Portugal today.
The Record have previously claimed that Gerrard is a ‘huge admirer’ of the youngster and this will no doubt delight the light Blues’ boss, even if his former club are set to miss out on him.

If and when this happens, it’s a great decision and one that reflects so very well on Gerrard.
Given that Liverpool are reportedly keen, McPake must be tempted, but his commitment to stay with the 39-year-old manager indicates that he fully believes that the legendary midfielder can take him to the next level.
From a Rangers perspective, they’ll be over the moon. It wasn’t that long ago that Billy Gilmour left Glasgow to join Chelsea and although he’s very much on the right track, many before him have taken on major moves and then disappeared.
The Gers’ decision to tie down McPake may also ensure that the club doesn’t receive peanuts if he does move on eventually, with the Glasgow giants receiving only £500,000 in compensation for Gilmour [Sky Sports].
