According to STV, Rangers are set to seal the permanent signing of playmaker Ianis Hagi – and it looks to be cheaper than first expected.
It’s claimed that Rangers will be paying just £3million to sign Hagi. Some had expected £4million or even £5million, but the Gers won’t be spending that much.
The report notes that the £3million will be split over the years, easing the burden on the Rangers budget right now amid criticism over their spending.
Some had wondered how Rangers could justify such a move with financial concerns hanging over them, but the payments being spread out should allay fears.
Hagi, 21, joined Rangers on loan in January. The Romanian notched three goals and two assists in 12 games for the Gers, before the global pandemic interrupted the season.
Less than a year since Genk signed Hagi from FC Viitorul, the playmaker is on the move again. This time, he’ll hope to really settle down with Rangers.

He showed flashes before the pandemic, and this deal now gives him the chance to prove that he can be a long-term star at Ibrox.
Genk are taking a surprising loss on Hagi, and whilst he may never reach his father’s level, Ianis is an exciting signing for Rangers – and a great start to the summer window.
