Glasgow Rangers boss Mark Warburton has hinted he is close to adding new faces at Ibrox.
Glasgow Rangers set to offer a pre-contract to Heart of the Midlothian winger Sam Nicholson, the Daily Record reports.
Nicholson has scored four goals and made another three in eight Scottish Premiership appearances this season, but has been sidelined since September following knee surgery.
The 21-year-old is set to return to action in January, however, at which point he will have entered the final six months of his contract and is free to talk to other clubs regarding a summer move.
Heart of Midlothian’s Sam Nicholson
According to the Daily Record, Nicholson is determined to continue his career away from Tynecastle, despite being offered a new deal, and Mark Warburton’s Rangers are reportedly ready to pounce.
It is claimed that Rangers could look to strike an agreement with Hearts, in an attempt to bring Nicholson – for whom they would have to pay compensation anyway – to Ibrox six months early.
However, this could prove difficult with the Edinburgh side – who have already admitted they want seven figures for another contract rebel Callum Paterson – reportedly ready to play hardball.
Warburton told a press conference on Thursday that Rangers have “quite an extensive list [of targets], in categories one, two and three”.
He added: “We hope we are very close to two of them, fingers crossed.”
Brentford’s Jota Peleteiro is another reported target for Glasgow Rangers
The Daily Record reports Rangers’ Nicholson deal is at a far less advanced stage than that of Brentford attacking midfielder Jota, despite comments made by Bees boss Dean Smith this week via Get West London.
