Rangers are reportedly preparing their move for Aberdeen’s Derek McInnes this week.

According to BBC Sport, Rangers are set to make their move to land Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes this week – but ex-Gers manager Alex McLeish claims he hasn’t applied for the job.
Rangers decided to part ways with manager Pedro Caixinha on Thursday, with the Portuguese boss losing his job less than 24 hours after overseeing a 1-1 home draw with Kilmarnock.
Graeme Murty took charge of Saturday’s 3-1 win away at Hearts, and the former Scotland full back could yet be a potential successor to Caixinha in the short term at least.

However, BBC Sport report that Rangers’ top target is Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes, and the Gers will make their move to land him over the coming week.
McInnes, 46, has impressed during his time with Aberdeen, winning over 58% of his games since taking charge at Pittodrie in April 2013, repairing his reputation after struggling with Bristol City.
The Scot played for Rangers as a midfielder between 1995 and 2000, meaning an Ibrox return could be on the cards, with Rangers allegedly ready to buy him out of his contract and bring him back to Glasgow.

Whilst Aberdeen brace themselves for interest from Rangers, one former Dons and Gers hero has commented on his position, with Alex McLeish claiming that he hasn’t applied for the job.
McInnes – who played for Aberdeen and managed Rangers – merely told BBC Radio Five Live that Rangers know where he is, but he may only be one of a number of backup options if they can’t land McInnes.
