According to Sky Sports, Rangers will make an approach to sign Aberdeen forward Scott Wright, who could even join this month.
Sky Sports state that the 23-year-old could be offered a pre-contract deal with his current terms set to expire in June.
However, it is said that Steven Gerrard is looking to do a deal now and bring Wright to Ibrox during the January window.
The 5-cap Scotland Under-21 international has scored two goals while also recording five assists in 16 appearances this season.
Should he arrive at Ibrox, it looks as if he would be able to provide Gerrard with a versatile option in attack.

Wright has made ten appearances at centre-attacking midfield this term.
However, he has also appeared at left-wing, centre-forward and even at centre-midfield according to Transfermarkt.
If you’re wondering who Wright bases his game on, then the Press and Journal revealed he idolises Celtic attacker Ryan Christie.
The £500,000 Scotland international has four goals and 11 assists this season, and is a real goal threat from the No.10 position.

In our view, it’s a no-brainer to sign Wright due to his contract situation, which works in Rangers’ favour.
They can either sign him now and integrate him in the squad for a small fee. On the contrary, the Bears could just tie him down to a pre-contract deal for nothing.
Either way, the Gers would be getting a bargain if this deal goes through.
